The Three Marketing ‘M’s – How To Craft Your “Marketing Message”

Marketing MessageMarketing is all about Communication, So how do you craft your message so that people (a) Find your message, (b) Hear your message and (c) Act on your message?

So what are the Three Marketing 'M's?

  • Your 'M'arket
  • Your 'M'essage
  • Your 'M'edia
  • Your Market:

What segment of the market are you trying to target? The more clearly you can define your niche, the stronger your voice will be within that market place.

  • Your Message

Once you know your niche, you need to know what 'message' you are going to take to them. Understanding your niche makes it much easier to understand what 'language' to use and this makes crafting your message much easier.

  • Your Media

How are you going to reach your target audience? What channels can you use to effectively speak to them?

Once you understand th eanswers to these 3 questions, you will understand how to construct your marketing 'pyramid' to create a "marketing message" that your customers not only resonate with, they respond to.

Mandy, I love the simplicity of your message. Focus is my biggest need right now, and in order to focus I need to simplify. You've given the perfect formula for that.

Hi Mike, Appreciate your input – knowing your market and how to relate to them is one of the key fundamentals to the success of ‘getting your message out there’. I think the mere fact that it sounds so simple and so obvious is one of the reasons why so many people overlook it. You are always trying to speak to ‘Somebody’ in your advertising, not ‘Everybody’. Thanks for re-iterating :)

Get Rich in a niche! Once you have your niche then the message becomes so much easier and deciding on the media is relative to both our own preferences and to the needs of the market! Great tips Mandy!

Hi Kim – great to see you as always. And yes, absolutely, we need to meet our customers where they are already. It doesn’t matter how ‘hot’ a marketing channel is, if our customers are not there, there is not a lot of point us marketing to them there (although there is a lot we can do to entice them to ‘dip their toe in the water’ and join us in previously ‘unchartered territory’ :)
